My Cocoon tightens Colors tease
My Cocoon tightens Colors tease
I’m feeling for the Air
A dim capacity for Wings
Demeans the Dress I wear
A power of Butterfly must be
The Aptitude to fly
Meadows of Majesty implies
And easy Sweeps of Sky
So I must baffle at the Hint
And cipher at the Sign
And make much blunder, if at least
I take the clue divine

A moment to interrogate, Then wiser than a “Surrogate,” The Universe […]...

- Ethiopia Saluting the Colors 1 WHO are you, dusky woman, so ancient, hardly human, With your woolly-white and turban’d head, and bare bony feet? - Colors Passing Through Us Purple as tulips in May, mauve Into lush velvet, purple As the stain blackberries leave On the lips, on the hands, The purple of ripe grapes Sunlit and warm as flesh. - Butterfly Laughter In the middle of our porridge plates There was a blue butterfly painted And each morning we tried who should reach the Butterfly first. - Cocoon For A Skeleton Clothes: to compose The furtive, lone Pillar of bone To some repose. To let hands shirk Utterance behind A pocket’s blind Deceptive smirk.
